ABOUT PHRAO
Located in a fertile valley and surrounded by forested mountains, Phrao is a small and peaceful town north of Chiang Mai city. With a population about 50,000, it is truly a farming community where food is abundant. The land was so rich in minerals that King Mengrai, who founded Lanna Kingdom (Chiang Mai) in the 13rd century, decided to stop his troops here to gather food and rally his own forces before moving on to conquer the next city. Today, the town is known to be one of a few places that produce the best rice in Thailand.
Phrao is blessed with a wonderful scenic view of a lovely countryside town. Yet, it has never known as a tourist destination. People here are laid-back and friendly. Thus, it is a perfect place to relax and enjoy local experience.
